‘Wheel of Fortune’ Host Pat Sajak Says ‘The End Is Near’ After 40 Years

Pat Sajak, the iconic host of “Wheel of Fortune,” hinted that his time on the show might be coming to an end. “In most television shows by this time, you would have said, ‘That’s probably enough,’ but this show will not die,” Sajak, 75, told Entertainment Tonight.

“Wheel of Fortune” debuted in 1975, with Sajak joining in 1981. Alongside co-host Vanna White, 65, he has become synonymous with the show. Reflecting on his future, Sajak said, “It appears I may go before the show.”

Sajak expressed gratitude for his long tenure, saying, “It’s an honor to have been in people’s living rooms for that long. People were out there welcoming us. We’re happy and proud.” He joked about not doing the show for another 40 years, acknowledging, “The end is near.”

In December, Sajak celebrated his 40-year hosting anniversary with a tribute from his daughter, Maggie, who tweeted, “Happy 40th Wheel-iversary to this guy!” The only time Sajak stepped away from hosting was for surgery, with White stepping in.
