What Happened to USA Olympic Gymnast Jade Carey, 24, Who Could Not Eat before Competition?

Superstar gymnast Jade Carey, 24, has been struggling at the Paris Olympics. Carey shared candidly about her health and its impact on her performance. “I just have not been feeling well the past few days and haven’t been able to eat or anything,” she told Olympics.com on July 28.

Carey, the only US team member to speak to the press, continued, “I had, like, no energy today and didn’t really have a sense of what was going on in my head.” She wanted the public to know her struggles were health-related, not nerves.

A TikTok video of Carey’s performance shows her executing somersaults and flips but stumbling on the final landing. Concerned viewers commented on her pale appearance, with one noting, “I thought she looked really pale and out of it.”

After the Women’s Qualification event, Carey posted on Instagram: “all heart 🤍 not the day i was expecting to have but i can’t thank you all enough for the love and support.”

Carey’s mom updated on July 29 that Carey was feeling better. “She’s doing much better today. Trying to hydrate, get some food in, ready to go,” she told “Today.” We wish Carey a speedy recovery and the best in her competitions.
