Salisbury Steak with Mashed Potatoes and Mushroom Gravy

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • ¼ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp. olive oil
  • Prepared mashed potatoes, cooked according to package instructions

  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • 8 oz. sliced mushrooms
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tbsp. flour
  • Salt and pepper to taste

  1. Prepare the Steaks: Mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, onion, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Form into four patties.
  2. Cook: In a skillet over medium-high heat with olive oil, sauté patties until seared on both sides. Remove and set aside.
  3. Make Gravy: In the same skillet, melt butter, add mushrooms, and cook until soft. Sprinkle flour over mushrooms, stir, then gradually whisk in beef broth. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Simmer: Return steaks to the skillet, reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer until meat is cooked through and gravy thickens.
  5. Serve: Plate the steaks over mashed potatoes, covered in mushroom gravy.
