After losing his wife, Jim meets Emily and believes he can find happiness again. However, blending his family proves challenging. “I met Emily three years after my wife’s death,” Jim recalls. Introducing Emily to his daughter Amy, Jim stresses, “I can only continue this relationship if you get along with my daughter.”

To Jim’s relief, Amy and Emily bond. “I think Emily is pretty cool, Dad,” Amy says. Two years later, Jim proposes to Emily. Karen’s mom, Lily, supports this, saying, “You have our blessing, Jim.”

However, tensions rise during wedding preparations. Emily suggests her nephew should be the flower boy instead of Amy. Jim insists, “Amy is my daughter and she’ll be the flower girl.”

The day before the wedding, Amy asks, “Do you think Mom will be happy?” Jim reassures her, “I think she would be, Amy.”

On the wedding day, Jim overhears Emily’s bridesmaids plotting to lock Amy in a dressing room. Furious, he confronts Emily during the ceremony. “Emily and her bridesmaids planned to lock my daughter, Amy, in a dressing room,” Jim announces. Shocked guests watch as Jim calls off the wedding.

The next day, Jim takes Amy to breakfast. Amy asks, “Are you sure it was a good idea not to marry Emily?” Jim replies, “Yes, sweetheart. She did not make me happy.”

Jim knows he made the right choice, standing up for his daughter. “I’m glad, Dad,” Amy says, smiling.
