Lottery Winner Is Found Dead With The Winning Ticket Still In His Pocket

Gregory Jarvis, 57, was tragically found dead beside his boat on Saginaw Bay with a $45,000 lottery ticket in his pocket,

Caseville Police Chief Kyle Romzek reported that Jarvis had won the prize in a Club Keno game on September 13, 2021, but was unable to claim it immediately due to missing his Social Security card.

Dawn Talaski, owner of the Blue Water Inn, described Jarvis as a regular who planned to visit his family in North Carolina with his winnings. “We thought something was wrong because he wasn’t here all week,” she noted, expressing concern over his absence.

An investigation revealed Jarvis had accidentally suffocated after slipping and hitting his head. “We think he was tying up his boat, slipped and fell, hit his head, and that’s where he ended up in the water,” explained Romzek, dispelling any suspicions of foul play.

The winning ticket was passed to Jarvis’s family, who hoped to use it in his memory. Talaski remembered Jarvis as a happy, decent man, beloved by many.
