Ingredients:
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- Mushrooms, sliced (quantity as desired)
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1 lb. ground meat (beef or a mix of beef and pork)
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs
- 1 egg
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- Cheese Whiz (to taste)
- 6 slices provolone cheese
Directions:
- Preheat the Oven: Set to 350°F (175°C).
- Sauté Vegetables: Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the onion, bell pepper, and mushrooms. Cook until tender, about 7-10 minutes. Add garlic and cook until fragrant, then remove from heat.
- Prepare Meatloaf Mixture: In a large bowl, combine ground meat, salt, pepper, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, egg, bread crumbs, and the sautéed vegetable mixture. Mix well.
- Assemble Meatloaf: Place half of the meat mixture into a loaf shape on a baking sheet. Lay a solid layer of provolone in the middle, then top with the remaining meat mixture. Seal the edges and shape as desired.
- Bake: Cook in the preheated oven for about 50-60 minutes or until cooked through.
- Add Cheese Topping: Lay sliced provolone over the cooked meatloaf. Return to the oven and broil for 2-4 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
